Italian Concert-Gala in Chicago for the University of Illinois Medical Center Minimally Invasive and Robotics Surgery Division

25/01/2010 - An evening hallmarking Italian culture and sciences in Chicago. On January 24, Chicago’s Harris Theater hosted a fundraiser concert and gala for the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) Medical Center’s Minimally Invasive and Robotics Surgery Division that featured Italian soprano Barbara Frittoli and the Chicago Civic Orchestra. The event, aptly titled The Art of Healing,Tthe Art of Music, was organized with the collaboration of Chicago’s Italian Consulate General and the Italian Cultural Institute.
In his welcoming remarks, Consul General Alessandro Motta reminded how Italian doctors and scientists and the work they perform every day are “feathers in the cap of our community.”

The UIC Department of Surgery has a very strong Italian association. Its Chairman is Perugia native Enrico Benedetti and it boasts the world’s most advanced robotics surgery division, which is headed by Arezzo native Pier Cristofaro Giulianotti, an internationally acclaimed specialist in one of the most innovative surgical techniques in modern medicine.
